Fashion show, firefighters, makeovers and more at the Head to Toe Women's Expo
"A Tribute to Our Heroes"
As spring approaches, it's time for renewal and rediscovery and The Head to Toe Women's Expo — now in its fifth year —will help local women do just that. The three-day show takes place Friday, April 11, Saturday, April 12, and Sunday, April 13, 2008 at the Del Mar Fairgrounds.
Presented by Ralph's Grocery, the Women's Expo gives mothers, daughters, and girlfriends a chance to reconnect during a weekend of shopping, pampering, makeovers, inspirational speakers and more. Attendees can stroll through a virtual village of apparel, jewelry, handbags, accessories, wine, gourmet foods, and home décor -- from more than 200 local and regional entrepreneurs and businesses. Expo apparel will be featured in a Fashion Show on Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m., with special runway guests from the San Diego Humane Society — local pet therapy dogs dressed to the nines.
Springtime Gardening Seminar
Featured speakers include Jane Clifford, San Diego Union Tribune's Family Editor, who will discuss the importance of mother /daughter relationships; and Tiger Palafox of Mission Hills Nursery, who will do a potting demonstration with unique color combinations, share tips for creating a strawberry pot and an herb garden perfect for the home cook.
Fashion Show Saturday
The Culinary Stage will feature demonstrations and savory samples by Chef Rigo Gutierrez of Zocalo, Chef Ish Espinoza from Miguel's Cocina and Chef Noah Russell of Hornblower Yachts. Many more chefs will be on hand throughout the weekend.

New to the show this year are the North County Firefighters straight from the pages of a 2008 calendar with a portion of the calendar proceeds benefiting a firefighter's fitness program and the Burn Institute of San Diego County.
This extraordinary event is not to be missed.At the Del Mar Fairgrounds' Exhibition Hall, show hours will run: Friday, April 11 and Saturday, April 12 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Sunday, April 13 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tickets, available at the door, are $8.00 for adults, $7.00 for seniors, and children under 12 years old are free.
